Delivery Driver
INTRODUCTION
This position is assigned in the Food & Beverage Division; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) aboard Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The primary purpose of this position is to provide phone support and delivery services for Uptown Pizza and basic kitchen support for the Windjammer Dining facility as secondary duties.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates MWR vehicles in a safe manner to deliver food to customers.
- Take orders from customers over the phone and/or in person.
- Handles significant amounts of cash and is responsible for own change fund. Also responsible for handling credit card information in a confidential manner.
- Assists in cleaning the kitchen and dining area including wiping down tables, sweeping and mopping, rolling silverware, folding pizza boxes, and stocking supplies in preparation for the next business day/event.
- Prepare to-go orders.
- Maintains water and detergent levels in dishwasher; removes strainer pans, inspection doors, etc., for proper cleaning of dishwasher, inside and out; removes calcium deposits as required; and restores room to orderliness.
- May assist in unloading food from delivery trucks and emptying the trash.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have at least 1 year of food handling experience in a directly related industry such as restaurant or fast food. Previous experience as a courier or delivery driver is preferred. Working knowledge of common sanitation procedures to prevent contamination. Basic phone etiquette to take orders and answer questions from customers. Must understand personal hygiene standards and food handling techniques. Understanding of and ability to calculate simple arithmetic and calculate measurements. Basic knowledge of and ability to use basic kitchen tools and equipment (pizza cutter, oven, dishwasher, etc.) and cleaning supplies. Demonstrate good decision making skills when presented with customer service issues and managing conflicting tasks or information. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using standard American English is required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must have a valid GTMO driver’s license is required at the time of hire and be able to maintain license.
- Must be able to work varied schedules to include evenings, weekends and holidays. Subject to recall.
- Must successfully complete food handler’s and cash handling training on an annual basis.
- The selected candidate MUST successfully pass a NACI background check as required by installation security.
- The selected candidate will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit.
