ELECTRICIAN
INTRODUCTION: This position is located at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, (MWR), Maintenance Division aboard Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay (NSGB), Cuba. The successful candidate will layout, install, maintain and repair electrical equipment/component, power and lighting systems in the facilities including motors, generators, transformers, controls and mechanisms, timing devices, switches, cables and conduits, comminating, recording and alarm systems. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and pneumatic equipment/instruments/ computer systems and related controls.
- Maintains and troubleshoots the more complex, technical and/or potentially hazardous processes and equipment.
- May be assisted by Electrical Worker Helper or Maintenance Mechanic.
- Use various types of testing equipment to locate and correct trouble.
- Work on energized circuits when required.
- May be required to work on high voltage equipment.
- Maybe required to carry out functional tests to determine that the electricity powered or electrically controlled machines or equipment operate properly after installation or repair.
- Determine horsepower requirements, line loads, material requirements, etc.
- May be assigned to specialized work within the classification.
- Ability to troubleshoot the operation system, and repair Splash Pad or pool systems. Work may include conducting daily inspection of the Splash Pad, ensure that proper disinfectant level in water is maintained.
- Responsible for completing work assignments in a safe, timely and economical manner.
- Required to adherence to applicable safety instructions.
- Estimate damage and calculate the cost of materials, use various tools to build and repair systems.
- Must be able to carry out audio system related functions.
- Performs other duties as required and directed by Maintenance Supervisor /Maintenance Director.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a certified journeyman level Electrician or have a minimum of six (6) years of directly related commercial or industrial electrical experience. Must have advanced knowledge of and applicable understanding of the National Electrical Code.
- Must be able to lead the onsite work of other crew members and tradesmen in lower grades.
- Experience equivalent to a journeyman level knowledge of the operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems and equipment, such as series, parallel, and compound circuits for single and multiple phase alternating current of varying voltage, amperage, and frequency; wiring systems in industrial complexes and buildings; and power or regulating and control circuits and distribution panels to machinery, control equipment, computers, and other electrical equipment.
- Ability to assemble, operate and maintain the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix or reproduce music.
- Ability to interpret and apply plan specifications, blueprints, sketches, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Incumbent will need to be well versed in the operation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of industrial kitchen equipment.
- Able to always follow safety rules, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to competently use computers in a professional setting and programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly using standard American English.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- This position may be designated ALPHA personnel for inclement weather or in the interest of national security and may be required to report for work when other employees are excused.
- This position is subject to the possibility of working on weekends and holidays, as well as rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours.
- The staff member may be recalled to duty and/or required to work overtime, as necessary to meet mission requirements.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is required at the time of hire. Travel to other facilities may be required within the normal scope of duties.
- This position is subject to a favorable National Agency Check (NACI). To verify fitness for duty, a complete physical examination may be required.
