Laborer
INTRODUCTON: This position is in the Facilities Maintenance Division of Morale Welfare and Recreation. The best candidate for this position must be highly motivated, customer service oriented, and is willing and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Incumbent performs one or more of the following duties: Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from different areas and stacks as needed. May move supplies by hand, truck, or dollies. Opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears. Uses a shovel to dig ditches where grading and sloping is not required and to clear sidewalks of dirt and sand. Uses hand and powered (walking type) tools that do not require heavy physical effort to clear areas of trees, bushes, weeds, etc. Moves and arranges equipment as needed. Collects and empties garbage and washes and waxes vehicles. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge and skill to run lawnmowers, hand buffers, hatchets, saws, and other hand tool requiring the same level of knowledge and skill. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge and skill to work safely while moving various weighted objects. Ability to complete duties involving distinct tasks independently.
EVALUATION: Candidates will be evaluated on quality and nature of the experience pertinent to the position. Applications must show sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the full range of duties of Laborer.
This position may require the incumbent to drive a vehicle around the installation. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of hire.
