Identification Checker
INTRODUCTION
This position is assigned to the Food & Beverage Division; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC). The primary purpose of this position is to provide identity confirmation and basic property surveillance at the Food and Beverage establishments aboard Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Controls access to facilities and events by requesting and verifying identification from customers.
- Enforce rules and regulations of the facility/event.
- Circulations among patrons to maintain order and to prevent damage to furnishings.
- Removes disorderly patrons from the activity.
- Safeguards supplies, equipment and other items contained in or around facility.
- Reports fires, accidents, and any subsequent hazards, taking appropriate emergency action.
- Maintains maximum security of assigned areas by performing area security checks
- Directs foot traffic and answers questions from customers during major events.
- Responsible for handling sensitive personal information in a confidential manner.
- Fill out reports on incidents of theft or accident, when necessary.
- May operate MWR vehicles to move between facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Working knowledge of the layout of facilities and surrounding areas. Must understand how to read identification cards and process information quickly. Knowledge gained through pertinent job experience enabling the incumbent to competently review identification for verification, evaluate surroundings for potential security violations or safety hazard, and to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and management. Previous experience as unarmed security guard in retail or entertainment is desired.
- Must be able to understand and apply existing regulations regarding patron use of the activity and/or facility.
- Must have the ability to deal effectively with various members of the public, including de-escalating negative or charged interactions, upset, stressed, and/or intoxicated customers.
- Must be able to react spontaneously and to make sound decisions often in loud, constricted and heavily trafficked areas with continuous disruptions and distractions.
- Ability to read and write standard American English is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using standard American English is required.
