CYP Recreation Aide

I.   INTRODUCTION:  

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department’s Child & Youth Program aboard Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  The purpose of this position is to provide appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth in one or more CY programs.

 

II.   MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The incumbent assists in the programming, planning, and implementation of a variety of recurring and non-recurring activities for children and youth. Work with assigned personnel to ensure that facilities are maintained in the proper state of cleanliness both inside and out and assists in preparing areas for scheduled events. Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures. Assists with the supervision of children and youth during daily schedules of indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings, and special events. Incumbent helps arrange for and /or serve appropriate snacks or meals where applicable. Sets up displays and bulletin boards. Inventories equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing and depleted supplies. Secure supplies, equipment, and facilities for activities. Assists in maintaining routine reports and/or performs general clerical duties. Assists in general maintenance and cleaning duties.

 

III. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of basic mathematics and knowledge of youth recreational activities. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Ability to accurately complete written forms and reports. Ability to learn CYP policies, rules, and regulations involving work areas. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Speak, read and write English. Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with children, youth and co-workers. Pass a pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease. Ability to satisfactorily complete background checks IAW PL 101-647 to include a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI).

 

EVALUATION:  Candidates will be evaluated on quality and nature of the experience pertinent to the position. 

 

Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
