YSF Recreation Aid

I.   INTRODUCTION:   This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department’s Child & Youth Program aboard Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The purpose of this position is to provide assistance in the oversight of activities and services for children/youth in one or more CY programs. Numerous Vacancies Available

II.   MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Incumbent duties include, but are not limited to, assisting in the programming, planning, and implementation of a variety of recurring and non-recurring activities for children/youth. Works with assigned personnel to ensure that facilities are maintained in the proper state of cleanliness both inside and out and assists in preparing and securing areas for scheduled events. Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures. Assists with the supervision of children and youth during daily schedules, outings, and special events. Helps arrange for and/or serves appropriate snacks or meals when applicable. Inventories equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies. Assists in maintaining reports and/or performs general clerical duties.

 

III. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSTION

  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.)
  • Knowledge of a basic mathematics.
  • Ability to accurately complete written reports and/or forms.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and learn CYP policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to safely and properly use common cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Ability to communicate English effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping in the performance of work.
  • May be required to lift up to 40lbs.

 

EVALUATION:  Candidates will be evaluated on quality and nature of the experience pertinent to the position.  Applications must show sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the full range of duties of the Child and Youth Recreation Aid.

Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization, and be free from communicable disease.

Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Position is subject to special inoculation and immunization requirements as a condition of employment for working with children. Employee is required to obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases in accordance with recommendations from Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which includes the influenza vaccine.

As a position of trust and IT II position, employment is conditional based on the successful completion of an Access National Agency Check (ANACI).
