Recreation Assistant (Auto Skills)

INTRODUCTON:    This position is located in the Auto Skills Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department. The primary purpose of this position is to provide control and assistance in the operation and maintenance of the MWR Auto Hobby Shop Program.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for assisting in the assurance of an efficient operation of the Auto Hobby Shop, Vehicle Storage Lot and MWR Resale Lot during his/her shift.  Must promote good patron relationship and enhance the image of the Auto Hobby Shop Program. Assists with the development, delivery and evaluation of programs and services targeted to the military and their family members. The incumbent reviews the schedule of functions that are to take place during the assigned shift in order to ascertain what special preparations are required. Ensures that necessary space, supplies, and equipment are available. Enforces authorized patron regulations for activities and events. Provides instruction and guidance to all staff members during their shifts.   Ensures adequate manning for special events as well as routine operations.  Ensures that all safety and environmental regulations are adhered to by patrons as well as other employees.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Possess the ability to account for and control property and equipment inventory.  Ability to understand and carry out both written and verbal instructions and to convey the same to others. Must be able to deal effectively with others and have the ability to maintain records and reports.  Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, equipment, and basic safety is required. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests.  Incumbent must have at least one year of experience working on non-commercial automobiles and trucks.  

 

EVALUATION:  Candidates will be evaluated on quality and nature of the experience pertinent to the position.  Applications must show sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the full range of duties of the Auto Skills Recreation Assistant.

This position may require the incumbent to drive a vehicle around the installation.  A valid driver’s license is also required.

This position requires successful completion of a background check.

Per Executive Order, the federal minimum wage for U.S. citizens will be at least $15/hour.  This vacancy may be amended when the rates are published.
