Recreation Aid / Lifeguard 2 POS

INTRODUCTION:  This position is located in the Aquatics Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department. The incumbent monitors and observes the actions and activities of patrons in the pool/beach area in order to identify possible distress situations or safety violations.

                                                                       

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Ensures that all safety and lifesaving gear/equipment is in full operational order and is readily and easily accessible at the location. The incumbent is responsible for informing swimmers of rules and regulations governing the facility and ensuring that all patrons are aware of hazardous situations and “out of bounds” areas. Makes sure all swimmers are accounted for at all times. Maintains daily log and records of patrons utilizing the pool. Assist in maintaining pool/beach and surrounding area in clean condition. Monitors chlorine content in pool to ensure compliance with Base Standards. Aids or rescues patrons in distress utilizing various lifesaving gear and equipment and administers first aid as required. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining maximum safety for all patrons in or around the pool area. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Incumbent must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must possess current Senior Lifesaving Certificate or its equivalent. Must possess or obtain CPR Certification, must possess the skill required to administer basic first aid. Must be able to meet and deal with the public.
